Fall Yoga 2013

I will be teaching here at my new home studio THIS FALL:

General Information

It is best to have a nearly empty stomach and wear non-restrictive clothing for yoga class. Yoga is practiced with bare feet, and traditionally shoes are not worn into a yoga studio. You do not need to be young and flexible to practice Yoga! Yoga is a means of becoming more flexible. In addition to learning flexibility of the body, it is about practicing flexibility in our daily life. Yoga is also about respecting and honoring ourself, regardless of physical ability or limitations.
Anyone can do yoga.
Classes are designed to accommodate all skill levels by modifying poses with the assistance of props so that everybody can reap the benefits of the pose.

Welcome to Reflections Yoga

I started teaching yoga in 2008 when God called me to understand and experience yoga for myself. My misconceptions were dispelled, and I found an inner silence that had been missing in my life.

Through the disciplines of yoga, I have learned that by using asana (postures), prana (breath), and meditaton (mindful thought), I can enter into a place of worship and acceptance of myself (as God designed me), entirely and completely. These are priceless gifts that we are all able to give ourselves, if only we are interested enough to begin the journey and then dedicate ourselves inspite of the stumbles and missteps along the road. By giving ourselves to God completely (mind, body, spirit), we can learn to love ourselves and others as God intended - and experience a life of freedom and abundance.

Woodmen Valley Chapel Pastor, Matt Heard, taught on worship referencing John 4:23-24. “Worship is active in three responses: Recognizing God’s Worth (prayer and meditation, involving our mind-truth), Resonating with His Worth (breath, involving our heart-spirit), and Reacting to His Worth (yoga postures and movement, involving our bodies-worship).” Words in italics added.

Embracing my life and in slowing down, my heart has known a new understanding on how to live out the Lord’s commandment in the Psalms, “be still and know that I am God”. The outcome of my yoga practice has been a powerful experience in my personal worship.

My single desire in teaching Christ-centered Yoga is to help people (particularly women) experience the Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in their lives by going on an intimate journey with Him where mind, spirit and body can connect for healing and worship. It is all about Him.

Join me for a variety of classes in several locations. Wear comfortable stretchable clothes and bring a yoga mat. I have a limited number of mats available for use if you do not have one. The student-teacher relationship is important to me. So don’t hesitate to ask for help or clarification at any time. You can call or email me with any of your concerns. If I don’t know the answer to your question, I will find out from someone who does!

Classes are practiced to contemporary, worship-inspired Christian music (and sometimes instrumental) with quiet reflection on the truth of God's Word. Come with a receptive spirit. No experience necessary. I can’t wait to see you soon…
